Benign as always. The hospital duty part that is.
That’s because all the paperwork submissions are piling up on me now. It had always been a sickness of mine, me not doing my requirements ahead of time, when the schedule isn’t so jam-packed yet, and cramming stuff last minute, when the deadline’s already round the corner. Fine, I may be having some other major stuff going on to think about (i.e. my personal life, plus the fact that I’m moving from my place) but still, these paperwork would have been done with a long time ago were I not such a procrastinating slob.
Anyway, today was fun. We had teaching rounds this morning. Also, I got to refer my diabetic amputee to Ophthalmology (and boy, this referral system is a pain in the ass, with PGH’s outdated and bloated bureaucracy and all to deal with).
I also got decked a new patient who, though I can’t get into specifics, was in the local news recently. Let’s just say he was first an internet personality, and now he’s got all the publicity, he’s now back home receiving treatment and rehabilitation care of the best health professionals in the country. And I get to be part of his health team, so that’s a yay! Though this morning after just having met him, I and this friendly (read: cute) intern attempted to extract blood from his foot, but due to his condition our attempt was an epic failure. Though the nurse’s attempt after us was futile too, so imagine the pain of that our patient had to endure, and that’s on top of his extensive injuries. Not my best attempt in establishing rapport. Let’s see how I redeem myself tomorrow.
So that was my day. Tonight though was another matter, a subject of the following post.
